Why 4 stars? Because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the bagels here. They are the real deal! Always fresh. Why not 5 stars? Because when I've eaten here for breakfast, I don't feel the love and the food overall isn't fabulous....isn't deli fabulous like when I buy the things from this deli and prepare a meal or buffet from it - it's deli fabulous! Every time I visit the area, this is a MUST STOP and get a dozen to take home with me. I almost gave it 3 stars because during my last visit, there were only a few bagels available, bought them and almost out the door, more came and I bought the rest to finish out a dozen. Although I was charged only for the remaining dozen price, I did not get my 13th/baker's dozen bagel. So, I felt cheated. But, that's only happened once and you need to get there early or you've got slim pickins! Still, the best bagel in FL!

Bagel shop with no bagels. Over charged me for below average food. Charge 9$ for white bread french toast without stating. Everything taste like eggs. Pancakes had onions inside. Charged me for 2 eggs meals but did not bring out additional items stated on menu. What else would you like to know?

Bagel and cream cheese was expensive and wasn't fresh even though we got there first thing in the morning. Bagel sandwich prices were a little insane as was the service in this place. Service was terrible and slow. When i went to pay the cashiers were to busy talking about a coworker to cash me out. So annoying!

$46 per pound for sable. Fair price awful fish. Lips are burning from salt. No buttery flavor. Gray. Bagel was good. Nova was good I have posted this review with photo of gray sable at $46.00 per pound. Approx 18 days ago. I'm very disappointed that I was not contacted by mgmt to make this right

I can't speak to the restaurant, but I stopped in for a couple of bagels and wasn't disappointed. Fast, friendly service and bagels were great! I'll be back.

Turn away! Pastries, dessert and pickles were old. Food was extremely overpriced for what it was. Service was awful! Slow and rude. We were served water once. Thankfully I was able to share my water. Waitresses were talking bad about guests. When asked about dessert, the waitress told us to get up and look at the display of desserts. Will not be returning!

Great salads and cold cuts, bagels and lox as well as a huge breakfast and sandwich menu.

Best bagels in south Florida. Stopped for lunch today. Corned Beef Ruben was good but a little pricey. $16.50 plus 2.49 for an ice tea. With tax a whopping $20 for a sandwich and ice tea. I'll stick with the bagels

One of the best Pastrami on rye sandwiches I've had including the best NY delis. I was skeptical because I've been picking up a toasted bagel with cream cheese on the way to work for a few years here. I don't like the takeout service. The newer employees are eager, the older ones are tired and uncaring. I stopped for a full breakfast once and was reminded why I don't go to Jewish delis for breakfast. I ordered a pastrami sandwich for pickup. Although it was ready when I arrived, had to wait in line behind characters who had nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon than take up the employees' time thinking out loud about their order, adding this, subtracting that, etc... Finally got my sandwich, took it to work it and it was, sincerely, worth it. Cooked right, sliced right, delicious, huge, more than I can eat. Not cheap, but a very good value. I'm hooked. Now, I just need to figure out a way to pick it up quicker.

Old school deli! Went here for breakfast. Great bagels and service. Pretty much a hang out for locals. Lots of people who look like they have been going there for years.

Great services I frequent here for egg white scrambles with feta and spinach, well done hash browns and a whole wheat bagel. Don't toast their bagels they get hard as rocks! 4 stars because the bagels aren't my favorite and the place could be cleaner/updated.

The bagels are great but with a doubt the best smoked fish in Florida this a old school New York deli so don't expect the best service or polite people deal with it your here for the food so enjoy the experience

    (4)
  • Jonathan C.

Place is a Florida institution. Bagels that are just as good if not better than real New York bagels. some of the best tuna, chicken, egg and white fish salads around. Fantastic deli meats (especially the corned beef). Fantastic rotisserie chickens, home made pickles, house made hot dogs and so much more and this is all just in the deli. The restaurant also makes some of the best "Jewish deli" foods around. Sage bagels will change your life. It's a must

  • Buda B.

I love a good jewish deli and could not wait to walk in this one. Unfortunately, appalled by the outdated, and somewhat dirty feeling place. Therefore, all I ended up ordering was a bagel with nova. Floor carpets hanging from kitchen window to server area over the rail, top dried salads which did not looked mixed in a few hours, although saran-covered and toaster and meat slicers with residue. I don't mind nostalgic deli's, but this one was not that. The cream/nova was delicious and plentiful the bagel with schmeer and water was $6.50. Not sure I will return until I hear of a remodel/renovation.

Not impressed today. Haven't been here in about a year, but this morning before a meeting we decided to stop in. I ordered a simple meal. Two eggs, scrambled with American cheese, hash browns, & a few slices of tomatoes. The hash browns, which are usually the highlight of my breakfast, tasted as if they were frozen..not made fresh. They were hard, tasteless, & came in a rectangle shape. The eggs were ok. Had to add salt & pepper. Even the tomatoes tasted different, I don't know maybe a figment of my imagination. The best this I had this morning from Sage was the Martinellis Apple Juice. The quality of the food has certainly declined from when I first used to frequent Sage yearsss ago. Used to go at least 2-3x a week. I do have to say though, that I was happy about the service. The waitress was kind, attentive, & efficient.

This joint is located very near to me, but I always seem to have trouble getting myself to go in. I did one time and had rather mediocre food; it is not on a par with the other delis in the area BUT they do give you free bagels which are good. The restaurant needs an update fast and it has an odd odor (I have walked by on other occasions to confirm this). The help is grumpy and they close at 4:00 p.m.; all reasons that I shy away from here.

I originally came here because of the awesome pictures of smoked salmon and bagels. I came exactly for that reason. The location was a little inconspicuous. It's practically facing the inside of the courtyard of the shopping center. We walked in and sat down. It's a cute little family-owned restaurant. With that being said, they run ads throughout their menu, which makes it a little hard to navigate through. I searched and searched for the infamous Nova but I couldn't find it! I was also too shy to ask the waitress...and after a few minutes, I finally located the Smoked Fish Platters section. We ordered one of the combos, 2 types of fish. Nova and Sable with 2 bagels. YUM! It comes with lettuce, onions, olives, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I read from other Yelpers that it's like DIY sandwich, so I wasn't surprised. I actually enjoyed building my own. This was definitely too much food for one person. I'm glad that I shared it! If you're from the area or a foodie, this is one of the places you need to try!

Won't be returning here. After browsing the menu I was astonished. 2 eggs any style was $5.69! Just for 2 eggs! I just settled on a bagel which was a $5.99 bagel with cream cheese! 1 bagel and some cream cheese. Ok this should be the best bagel ever...... Nope not even close. Was average at best.

  • Daz C.

Worst service ever, waited 20 mn before we even got a menu. Had to ask for water , waitress nice but super busy. Had the omelette with salami and cheese and I could not believe the 3 slices of orange cheese just placed on top of the eggs. Hash was not cooked inside and my friend had the potatoes which came out cold like leftovers not heated. Bagel was not toasted like I requested and tasted like burned dry onions. Worst breakfast ever and will not go back or recommend it.

I'm from NY this is the closest thing to a NY bagel and the fish is incredible super friendly very professional the workers are very personal with you and it's nice to have that feeling that when you go to a place customer service still exists old-school style

    (5)
  • Charlie B.

The bagels are great especially with the salmon cream cheese spread. If you dine in ask to sit in Roe's section she gets your food out fast and hot!

The second star is for the pastrami which was very flavorful and reminded me of ny. My main complaint is with the bagel. Saying this is a ny style bagel is a disservice to humanity. The bagel was so hard I'm surprised I didn't chip a tooth on it! Also for an "everything bagel" it had very little of anything on it, as if it were running away from the seeds. I am still continuing my never-ending search for a decent ny style bagel and sage just doesn't cut it. Pastrami is good though!

Bad Bagels this past Saturday afternoon- they were out of many choices,,,Took home poppy seed bagels, with very few poppy seeds. Long lines, high prices, lousy bagels..This place has been better, much better.

This is the best Jewish Deli you will find in South Florida. I grew up coming here as a child with the Jewish side of my family, and it's still the standard I hold most Delis to. The bagels are delicious and traditional. They're on the smaller side, and when fresh out of the oven the inside is warm and doughy and the outside is perfectly crisp and brown. It's the prefect deli bagel. If you want the new-age massive dough ball of a bagel, then this isn't your place. The baked salmon here is my favorite. It's always fresh and moist; the nova is actually less salty than the lox, and they are both always perfect. The rest of the food is also great--I've never had a bad meal. From the blintzs to the potato pancakes, everything is perfect. The service is the service you get in an old school Jewish Deli, just like in New York. It's brisk but polite. Mainly they just want you to get your food as soon as possible, so i have no problem with it. I live in New York City now, so I've had my fair share of bagels and delis. I make a point of it to try all the best places...But, whenever I find myself in Hollywood visiting my parents, I always make it a point to go to Sage. My memories of eating here are great, and thankfully the food and atmosphere still are, too.

How do you spell unappetizing, overpriced, dried up and "get me out of here"? My wife and I have never walked out of a Kosher-style deli without buying something. This is a disgrace. At almost twice the price of a Zabar's, the name Russ and Daughters should not be in the same sentence as The Sage. The sales person showed us ONE piece of pickled lox for $14!!! Needs a thorough cleaning. Philadelphia's Reading Terminal's hot pastrami makes this place "laughable!

Best bagels in Broward or Dade. Only comparable spot is Strathmore in Wellington. Homemade cream cheeses and bagels made on site. I come here multiple times a month to eat in, as well as take a bakers dozen home and freeze them.

  • Michael M.

This place was the closest thing to an nyc bagel spot that I've come by in over a decade! Everyone was beyond friendly, but the real win was how freaking delish the food was.. The bagels were the real deal. Literally went back for seconds and sent the link to all my friends in the area. Open from 6am everyday! Wasn't super cheap but wasn't super expensive. Will most def be coming back to this spot for breakfast Sandwhiches or even lunch.

This place really ticks me off. It is the only place in our neighborhood for good deli meats and fish and good bagels. Because of that they are always packed. But the service is terrible and the place is just plain filthy. Even when you specifically ask them to sweep up a little they ignore you. It's just disgusting. I have offered to do it myself, but they don't do that either. If there were an alternative I would gladly use it.

$$$$$ freshly made stuff to make sammich's! my favorite is their boiled egg and mushroom mix.. delicious. good variety, always fresh, friendly service, caters to the hoity toity retirees! expensive. good on occasion.

I've always found the sandwiches and the bagels to be quite good. The only problem is with the insanely bad service. And older man behind the counter seems to be Deranged, and is unnecessarily rude and somewhat confrontational with customers for no particular reason. It is really very weird, even for Florida.

Ok, first of all...I didn't eat a bagel here. I don't know why. It just didn't happen. Just wanted to get that out of the way. When we walked up to this place I was a bit confused on how this place worked. There is a deli on one side and a restaurant on the other. It is a seat yourself kind of joint. No problem. It took a few minutes before we had any service, but she ended up being friendly. Decaf coffee was hard to come by too. The servers would ask if my parents wanted more coffee. They would say "Yes, Decaf please". And then no one would return. Strange. Food...I had the cheese blintzes. Right. That is why I didn't have the bagel. I paired them with sour cream and cherry topping. Holy crap. So amazing. It was all just perfect. I also had a plate of turkey bacon that was good, but for $3.50 extra could have used a few more pieces on the plate. My dad got the bananas foster french toast (only served on the weekend) and it was larger than life. It was fantastic! If I was in the area I would stop by again and maybe try the bagels. Or stick with the blintzes. Either way, I would go not expecting a 5 star dining experience, but delicious food.

Seriously lacking atmosphere and small portions, don't know what the high prices are all about!!! In addition to grumpy service and terrible coffee, we paid $30 plus tip for 2 cappuccinos, one lox plate and an extra bagel (plus sharing charge). Bagels are small and selection was limited by 11 a.m. on a Saturday. Food was good but restaurant was super crowded, feels like you are sitting with the party at the table next to yours. Wish I had a local neighborhood spot to love but this place feels like a rip off!

  • Al N.

The 5th star was lost by the inconsistent service and the disengaged staff. Besides that the pastrami is among the best ive had. The bagels are very good but are a hit and miss because at times they can be a bit stiff. The french toast is delish.

I hate to give this place only three stars. The Tuna Salad Bagel was fantastic. But the rest of our experience was a complete shit show. Let's start with the Decor, or lack there of. The place is unorganized, disheveled and messy. The people behind the counter were running a Chinese Fire drill. The people who were making the Bagels looked like they were on a work release program. But I have to admit, the Bagel I bought was downright delicious. The Highlight of my visit was the 65 year old woman, who I assume (based on her accent) was from New York who was wearing skin tight leather pants. You don't see that everyday folks. Based on her ability to bark orders at the deaf old guy behind the counter, she was some kind of Princess in a previous life. It was quite entertaining. Here's the bottom line: If you can deal with the crappy service, messy decor and odd customers, Sage Bagel is actually worth the trip. The Bagels are really that good.

Bagels are great, coffee is meh and for the price of a cup these days you would think they could do better than little plastic mugs, However the deli end of it IS a great little place and surprisingly bigger than I thought it was from driving by. I wasn't enamored of the hash browns or the home fries that were served with my nova eggs and onion, which just didn't hit a high note with me. I think I enjoyed the bagel with butter and jam the most of all. Yes, the bagels are that great. My son didn't touch his hot dog with fries which, admittedly was nasty looking and we took home to feed the dog. HOWEVER, the Spanish omelet my eldest orders was smashing looking and he LOVED it. You have the option to sit inside or outside in the courtyard area. The staff are on top of their game (though could do with a lesson in smiling). A place I would go back to but order differently.

I had the whitefish salad on a salt bagel with tomato and onion. The whitefish was so delicate, mild, and delicious. It was a really nice breakfast. Good bagels and fresh seafood are the two things I missed the most (foodwise) while I was away from the coast. It was refreshing to eat here for that reason. The better half had an egg bagel with cream cheese and butter. Also very good. It's a little on the pricey side here, but seems worth it because this place is the real deal.

Disappointing lunch - stuffed cabbage was sweet, not savory. Who ever heard of sweet stuffed cabbage? My friend's turkey reuban (turban) sandwich was dry. On another visit, I thought the chicken salad was good, not great - I expect more from a place like this in their chicken salad. Overheard one customer complaint and saw slow service, but our service was adequate. Perhaps this place has seen better days.

Simply put, the best bagels in South Florida. Period. The bialys are of such quality they can be found nowhere south of Brooklyn. This place has it all going on. No-frills, but the best deli and appetizers in South Florida. Let's start with a haircut nova, simply delicious. The belly lox is even better. All of their cream cheese spreads are awesome. The hidden gem of this place is the roasted chicken. Simply put, it falls off the bone. It makes Publix, Costco, and all those chicken places pale in comparison. It's not cheap, as far as chicken goes but worth every penny.

These bagels are awesome! They are you typical NY

    (5)
  • David C.

Really, truly the best bagels in all of Florida. In the area, it is better than Bagel Cove and Moes. The place is beat up and needed a renovation 10 years ago. You might also over look it as it is in a very ugly strip mall. If you can get past the location and ambiance, you will find a very solid deli. I'd recommend the lox and eggs for breakfast, probably some of the best around. Also, get the turkey bacon, it tastes almost as good as the real thing. The pancakes are nice sized and tasty. The coffee is better than fare. Park in the front if you can, and it does get crowded on the weekend.

It was breakfast and a show... or a train wreck.. Not sure. Came here around 11 on a sunday morning. Busy, but still open tables so I was seated right away (it really started to get packed towards noon). It was a little hard tracking down a waitress to find out if I could seat myself. Turns out, you can. I ordered a hot tea and a bagel with the nova. The waitress did recommend the nova over the lox. Now I guess because I was dining in they give a pretty large plate of nova, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, cucumbers with the toasty bagel and a serving of cream cheese/butter on the side. All I really wanted was an already put together bagel with the nova-- nova bagel sandwich, but fine ill make my own. The nova was really good. Fresh and tasty! The bagel, though was overly toasted? I was expecting toasty but soft (you know what I mean, right?) but I felt like I scraped the roof my mouth with their bagel. This was surprising after reading all the good bagel reviews. I was also not so pleased with the check, $14 was much too much for what I had just eaten! Now the show came in watching other patrons interact with the waitresses. To my right I had "just get me the right bagel lady" literally the waitress had to bring a bagel out 5 times and could not get the order right. One time toasted, one time not toasted.. One time everything bagel, one time whole grain... It wasn't until the lady threatened "this will be the last bagel you bring out" that the poor waitress got it right. To my left I had "shouting at waitresses is going to make them move faster family" This husband, wife and daughter knew how to complain about EVERYthing. They seated themselves and then proceeded to literally yell across the restaurant, demanding that their order be taken. Classy. They had the audacity to tell the waitress that they had been ignored for 10 minutes. Please, woman.. You barely sat down 5 minutes ago. Patience, my friends, is a virtue..... that is obviously lacking in SoFlo. Now the poor waitresses are working hard because you can physically see them sweating. Unfortunately, this establishment is not one for efficiency and they end up often looking like chicken with their heads cut off. If I come back it will be for the takeout deli side. Not going through that experience again. *my first time using my phone to write a review, excuse any typos :)

Was disappointed here by the service. I went inside and asked if I could get a menu and just sit outside. The waitress explained to me that there was full tableservice outside and I could go and sit there. I went outside and sat for about five minutes and watch the waitress just blow right by me to take someone else's order. She could've just as easily acknowledged me and said she'd be right back and dropped off the menu so I could look at it. I guess my expectation of service these days might be a little high but back when I was a waiter, I tried to keep my eyes on everybody to make sure that every table is taken care of. In certain respects I actually blame management for lack of training. Anyway if you're ever here try five guys next-door. When I walked in there about three separate people greeted me and it was a much friendlier environment.

I have been coming to Sage for the past 4 years & find this place to be worse every time I visit. The Bagels are the best in town but everything else makes this place gross to eat at. I once was a Die-Hard Sage fan but after a few bad meals, including hair in my eggs & a piece of a metal-can lid in my Corned Beef Hash, I stopped dinning in on the Restaurant side. I would ONLY stop by the Deli for a Bagel & Nova or Tuna salad TO-GO (the staff behind the deli counter are always pleasant & fun to see). After a longggg hiatus, I convinced myself to try Sage once again & had the most irritating dining experience of my life! The indoor dining area still has a million flies everywhere, looks dirty, & has a TV that looks like it is being held up by a paperclip & wad of gum. Even though the restaurant was empty, I did not receive a menu till after 10 minutes and 2 requests. The food took over 35 minutes to come, even though I only ordered a bagel & a wrap w/ soggy fries (I was about to order the Challah French Toast but was told it would take at least 20 minutes to prepare). The dining area is littered with fly traps that barely make a dent in the overwhelming fly problem. After a few minutes I moved to a table outside to find minor relief from the horseflies. It is very apparent that this place has been neglected. The owners of this establishment need to reinvest in to their business desperately & take care of the Fly problem now.

Confusion. I am confused about so many things. I was confused when we walked up. I am confused about how to word this review. I am confused on how I am still craving a bagel sandwich I had from here almost a week ago. Ok, the confusion starts when you walk up. There is a deli/store on one side and a full service restaurant on the other. It's not very clear though so if you are a first timer, like we were, it may be a little overwhelming. We wanted something quick so we walked in to order ourselves. However, the outdoor tables are reserved for the full service area only. That was a bummer. So when you walk into the deli when it's busy, it's confusing on where to start. There are so many counters. Yes, it's awesome because they have so much fresh food but also you have no idea where to start. I was lured in by the fresh bagels so I went with that to start. I requested turkey and was asked fresh pulled off the bone or lunch meat, I wasn't expecting that option so I went with the default of lunch meat. I have a feeling the pulled turkey would have been just as delicious if not more. Then went with the basics to top it off and a side of the scallion cream cheese. The sammie came with a side of cole slaw (later when someone else ordered apparently there was options but I guess it was too busy for the lady to request my preference) and a pickle (also an option of what kind but I got the classic by default). The sandwich was HUGE! I was very impressed. The bagel was a little well done and hard on the bottom but it was still good. The turkey was great and what really sold it was the scallion cream cheese - YUM! So flavorful and delicious. Everything in the cases that were pre made, all the salads and sides really looked delicious. I am sure all the bread is delicious as well. I do wish the service was a bit more friendly. There were about 10 people working behind the counter and yelling over at everyone walking around and ordering, it was very overwhelming. Some were darling and really cared about serving you while others just seemed to be grinders and wanted to push people out the door. Aside from it all I would suggest you stop here if you are in the area. It's a great lunch stop and everything was fresh. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Got a sandwich to go and was not impressed with the amount of time it took. When I got back to work there was not any lettuce/onions/tomatoes on my sandwich! Did not realize I had to ask for those and all I got was turkey on a bagel.

Let me write this review in two areas. First of all, the bagels are delicious! They are very crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Although well done, they tasted great and were authentic bagels. The restaurant, on the other hand, what a disappointment! We'll start with our waitress. With many other waitresses needing a table to wait on, we got the waitress with several other tables who was pre-occupied and delivered sub-par service and lousy food. Really - how can you screw up breakfast? Only two of seven orders were correct and three of seven were even good. The eggs were well done. One order was burned. Side dishes were forgotten and not all were served at the same time. For a bagel restaurant that wasn't busy, I was quite disappointed. Avoid Sage Bagel Restaurant.

This place is good!!! Its legit NY style bagels--just pricier but they can do that bc its not NY lol. But it is the exact same bagel I'm always craving when I'm outside the tri state. Also nice black and white cookies. I'd like to come back and try more!!!

As you can see with all the reviews don't waste your time eating here no mater if your friend recommended it. Place is dirty you can even feel it on the tables and chairs don't touch the menu's they haven't been cleaned in years. The waitress's know all the regulars so they cater to them and forget about you. Like someone else posted they they are still in the 1970's If your thinking about NYC bagels their around 1600 miles north you wont find this down here. Stick to the Cuban food , Colombian food the little place's off the beaten path and dream about NYC bagels. Oh by the way I need to give this post a star just to be published Happy Bageling

A family friend recommended that my family and I go here for brunch. Hhis place is an old school Florida Jewish dive. Great to see seventy year old ladies shove schmered bailies into their collagen pumped lips. We ordered the fish sampler with pickled lox and sable. Came with all the fixins for a proper sandwich. They also have a deli here with kosher meat but the place isn't certified kosher but good enough for me!

I have never witnessed such lack of care and respect for customers in my whole life. We stopped by here on our way home from a stay at the Diplomat and figured we'd grab some take out bagels for breakfast. First, i asked for the bagels to be toasted and he told us they are hot not honoring our request. Then the guy had no clue what was in the veggie cream cheese, I got "uh...carrots". Thank goodness I saw the peppers and avoided that catastrophe. The real mess was when we tried to pay....two of the employees began fighting with each other right in front of the register with an audience of customers. The guy in front of us was trying to pay and our server got annoyed and started picking a fight because the other server was taking too long for his liking. Then they stared arguing about who wrapped up the turkey which lead to name calling. Then our guy had a loud outburst screaming curse words. Then a girl filling the bagels began calling for a manager because our guy walked away, but the manager was too busy filling the juices to care. They finished with the guy in front of us and skipped to the people behind us when I spoke up and said I don't care if you all can't get along, we just want to pay. Finally our guy came back, told her what to ring up as she was calling him an idiot. That was a 15 minute ordeal that will keep me from going there ever again. Maybe the sit down portion of the restaurant is ok, but I'd avoid take out at all costs.

We were in the mood for bagels and breakfast sandwiches on Sunday morning, and were less than impressed with the bagels or the service. After 20 minutes of waiting (having already finished our meals), we had to get up and have someone else cash us out... can't remember the last time I had to beg someone to take my money. And then, to top it all off, they were rude. The breakfast bagel sandwiches were sub-par... the bagels themselves were small and chewy, and the "bacon/egg/cheese" barely had any bacon in it. Never going back!

Easily my favorite deli in Miami. Their bagel platters are filling and the tuna isn't too creamy! I love their staff, who stayed open just so that my mother and I could have some brunch! I never see the bottom of my coffee cup! I LOVE SAGE!

I've never been to Sage. However, I did have the grateful opportunity to try all of their bagels through a nonentity - a past job - and it was at my sinecure that I was lucky enough to try every single one of their bagels. Every morning, Sage's delivery guy would drop off 30 of these bad boys to a Café, where it would be served for the rich folk, and the rich folk only. Workers? "They're just workers, plus they're poor." Me: "Fascist." It was Mission Impossible on my end, but each morning I had a main objective: GET. A. SAGE. BAGEL. I would take the the multigrain with raisins, that's their best one. The delivery driver would only bring two raisin bagels out of thirty so it was a tough task, but I was able to get my share. I can eat about four of these bagels, and if it wasn't for running, I'd probably be overweight. And yes, they're nice and doughy but chewy at the same time. You don't even have to put cream cheese, the quality is all in the dough. How much do they cost?

I drive by this place often, but while my parents are here we stopped by. We ate in the restaurant and got the banana foster and cheese blitz. They had good service when we were there on Saturday morning but the kitchen was a little slow. Then we got the bagels and that side was really busy, but they are very good and so is the veggie cream cheese.

I'll drive 25 minutes, and pass close to a dozen bagel shops along the way to get to Sage. This is as authentic Brooklyn as you get down here ("down here"...that's how we "folks from up north" refer to SOFL). Bagels are excellent, and just about anything they put on it is gonna be excellent too. Fish quality is great, and you will not find any better selection (down here). I especially can't resist the whitefish. Service is for the most part good, and if you happen to get a server wit (no h) a bit of attitude, just consider it part of the ambiance! Don't forget to take bagels home.

I agree with the comments on the restaurant. A very crowded set up and very old fashioned in style of how they plate and serve the food .. Always new staff that is not familiar with good customer service. Food is generally good, but the traditional bagel and schmear is your best bet.... I do take out mostly. The herring in cream sauce is my favorite, then salmon spread, lox, the potato salad and smoked fish spread are out of this world.... I say stay with take out to get your best experience of sage...

My boo and I came here for breakfast because we heard it was good and the inside was swarming with older people but since the weather was nice, we decided to sit outside. Waitress had a bit of an attitude but who cares, we all have our days. We ordered pancakes and eggs benedict and were thoroughly disappointed. The eggs were cooked all the way through and when we brought it to the attention of the waitress she said that is the traditional way to cook a poached egg. This "discussion" lasted about 10 seconds and we just ordered something else. My pancakes were dry. I don't even know how to describe them. Dry cardboard perhaps? We did order a bagel because that is what Sage is known for and it was good I guess, but I'm not a bagel person in general so it was lost on me. Coffee and water was never refilled. So so so disappointing especially after reading the good reviews.

Everyone has heard of dinner and a show, but what about with breakfast? This place is a hilarious, Hallandale-unique experience, and also happens to have among the best bagels in South Florida. Some of the other bakery case items are good as well, while everything else served in the restaurant ranges from at least edible to very good. Come for bagels and nova or lox, whitefish salad, and what not. Although the kitchen can be a little slow sometimes, the servers themselves are New York nice and very efficient. Some of the deli sandwiches are good as well, and today they had one hell of a bananas foster french toast special. All and all, this place is an institution and is one of the few "must visit" places I can think of in the area.

My boyfriend took me here for breakfast. It was delightful. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching. I had an omelet, and he had eggs, we both had bagels. The food was great, especially the bagels. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Went here for lunch with my old man on a Saturday. While we are not Jewish, my father grew up in a Jewish neighborhood in Chicago and my first job was at a Jewish deli so I think we both have enough street cred for this review, lol. This is not the place to be seen. This place is not hip. In fact, this place is full of fake hips. Heaven's waiting room but these customers can die happy after eating these sandwiches. Both had pastrami and swiss on rye. WOW. Lean, seasoned perfectly and the swiss was a perfect compliment. If you like great deli, seek no other. GREAT FOOD!

  • Stephanie B.

The food is good, however very overpriced and they nickel and dime you. They charge you for everything. The placed is very cramped when busy, and the owner doesn't really to move the crowd along she just kinda sits there at her own table not really helping any of her staff with anything. Which to me suggests to me that her staff is over worked and underpaid. I used to come here all the time because they serve quality food, but every time I go just for me to eat will be $20 easy. I wish the rascal house was still open. Not rascal house quality but same price.

Sometimes I like to go on Old-Person-Safari and watch old people yell at waitstaff and guys working behind deli counters. There is no better spot to catch all the action than at Sage Bagels in Hallandale. No need to bring your binoculars but please stay in your booth and don't feed the old people - it will only soothe their anger. In a one hour time span I watched at least three old people order a free sample of soup, lick the bowl, yell at the waitress and then leave. If you're going here just for the food you won't be disappointed....the bagels are great and they make a nice omlette.

Sage Bagels is South Florida's answer to a New York deli. Everything I've ever tried there has been good, though service can be a little inconsistent. I live in the area and there have been a few times when we've tried to call in to-go orders and they told us they were simply "too busy" to be able to process the order. Dine-in service can be slow but it really depends on the day and time. Some of my favorites are the egg bagel, cheese blintzes (I have to agree with another Yelp reviewer that they are to die for), vegetable omelet (which is big enough to serve two people), grilled cheese, crinkle cut french fries, and corned beef sandwich. It may seem a bit pricey but the portions are huge! And they don't serve pork so beware when you order bacon.

This is a great place to start your day. The bagels here are soooo goood. I might go so far as to say they are probably the best in the Tri-county area. My wife and I have breakfast at Sage at least twice a month (our other hole in the wall bagel spots are JP Bagels and Bagel Time). The service (by S. Florida standards) can be a little rough, but let me tell you when breakfast hits the table its all forgiven. I must add that the pancakes are also very good. Overall a great Jewish Deli.

Without a doubt the best bagels for hundreds of miles around. But also the best fish and salads. When my parents come visit me in LA they bring bags of bagels and bialys. I ate there at least 5x in the two weeks i spent in miami and frankly, it wasn't enough.

I can only speak for the bagels - I haven't had anything else there. OMG... the bagels are THE BEEST EVER!!!! So, I lived in the NYC/NJ area for many years with access to the most wonderful bagels. I had given up on finding edible bagels in S.Fl. UNTIL I found Sage Bagels. They are fresh, crispy on the outside, and perfectly chewy on the inside. Seriously.. there could be no better bagel. In fact, I think it might better than the ones I used to love in the Northeast. Now, the people behind the counter... grouchy and not always so customer service oriented. I swear though, the bagels are worth it. Who cares if the people are a little grouchy... If you are a bagel lover, I promise you will not regret your visit.

I love bagels. I love when I wake up and my husband has already gone to Sage, and bagels are waiting. I would say, these are definitely the best bagels in South Florda. Yes, I've had bagels in New York. Yes, these are just as good. My favorite is the everything bagel wth white fish. Yes, authentic, Jewish deli white fish. It kills by breath, but is SO worth it. I also like the salmon spread, which is chream cheese with chopped fesh slamon mixed in. Their lox an nova spreads remind me of Hanukkah breakfast at my grandmothers, and the other spreads are just as delicious. The fast-paced ordering and hectic line prove this place is authentic. Sage is the best bagel shop in South Florida, plain and simpe.

A friend and I decided to go over to Sage after so many years of hearing about it. No wonder I hadn't ever been so eager to come before, nothing special at all. We went for a 1pm brunch, and you can only imagine how packed the place was. We ordered from the take out side of the restaurant and ate at a small table we found in there. Having worked in a deli shop, my boss always told me that the easiest way of testing out a deli, was by trying their tuna salad. "So simple, yet crucial", he used to say. Loving tuna salad, it came to me as the easiest test in the world. I ordered an 'everything' bagel with cream cheese and tuna salad, my friend got a bagel with cream cheese and fresh tomato. The tuna tasted like the ocean, and the amount of salt on the bagel, poses a threat to McDonalds' french fries. Neither of us left pleased, and I don't see myself going back, guess I'll just be sticking to Mo's.

Easily the best Jewish deli I've ever been to. I drive 30 minutes to get here and it is absolutely worth it. The nova- oh man. Thinly sliced and melts in your mouth. Today the waitress recommended the Everything bagel- fresh out of the oven. The doughy bagel, paired with cream cheese and nova is absolute heaven. I always get the Nova & Scrambled Eggs w/ Onions (well done, of course). My favorite meal ever. My dad has had the Corned Beef Hash and said that it was stellar as well. The people watching is also a plus- I've been here multiple times and the exact same old couples were sitting at 3 of the tables. Hilarious and definitely entertaining to say the least. I highly highly recommend you eat at Sage Deli.

I have only had the bagels here - oh and a pastrami sandwich once. The bagels are possibly the best in sofla. Their everyhting bagel is the best I have ever had. My other favorite is the jalepano bagel. The only knock is that sometimes they put way too much cream cheese on the bagels.

The Best Bagels in Florida( I have not tried the ones made from a process that duplicates NYC water). My god some if the comments. burnt onions on a bagel....GET AN ONION POCKET best anywhere......and to the person that complained about the service I wouldn't serve you if you ordered a sandwich on white bread either, To the person that complained about $25 for 2 sandwiches and sides you don't know the price of Kosher deli meats! and have never been to a deli in NY! The meats standard steam table Hebrew national....Not why I go there.....good omlets

Once you leave NYC it is not easy to get a ediable bagel, sometimes it is not easy to get one in NYC. This is the place to go and get a bag of bagels to bring home for a family breakfast. Their bagels are the real deal. ENJOY.

I give Sage Bagel and Deli a 5 Star rating. They have excellent New York Style Deli Food at a fair price. Their bagels are always fresh. They are located about 2 miles west of Golden Beach, FL. By Gregg L. Friedman MD, Psychiatrist, Hallandale Beach, FL

Sage Bagel's is hands down the best best when it comes to bagels! Staff is super friendly and helpful too. Decent prices and FRESH homemade bagels are a definite plus! Of course the bagels are the headliners. However, there are many other deliteful treats and traditional deli meals to sufice your appetite too! You really can't go wrong with anything there especially if you are fond of authentic bagel shops.

    (4)
  • Sloane W.

The food here is very good, and I have to admit I contemplated giving Sage Bagel four stars. The reason they're getting three stars is because their bagels are tiny and subpar, and their prices are too high. Great staff, nice selection - this place has a lot going for it. But in my opinion they need to reevaluate certain aspects of their operation.

    (3)
  • Suzy M.

This place is overrated. Went for brunch here for mother's day. Found a hair in my food and there are flies flying around the entire restaurant. Sadly the bathroom was the cleanest part of the restaurant. would never go out of my way to eat here, only did so because I had to.

  • Holly B.

Stick with your Jewish Deli basics here- bagels and lox, a ruben, corned beef sandwich, and you are golden. Veer from the norm and you'll be dissappointed (hub & I ordered nova eggs benedict and the hollandaise was miserable, plus the egg was not poached but hard boiled... as I said stick to basics). Toasted everything bagels are the best you're gonna get down south. The omlettes are good. Was not a big fan of the apple streudel or the rugala,

Bar none the best bagels. My only complaint is they are tiny, and they need to put more onions in their bialys. Will this deter me from being a regular. Not a chance. Thanks for being in business.

    (3)
  • Robert A.

I give The Sage 4 stars for their bagels-crispy and well-cooked on the outside; chewy on the inside. The bialys have too much garlic. Smoked fish is good-sable particularly. Like many such places, the characters behind the counter make or break the experience. It seems that Sage management works with a staffing agency that culls its referrals from a pool of rapscalian crackheads. These guys all look like they spend their down town working I95 intersections, collecting for the homeless. But it hasn't hurt their cigarette hacking, sputum spewing senses of humor. They're nice, but crispy around the edges. Chopped liver is good; potato knishes not so much. Good onion rolls and hotdogs. Located in one of S Florida's raunchier strip shopping centers (are there any other in S FL?), The Sage has S FL's best bagel by a long shot. That alone makes it worth a trip.

Best bagels ever (and I am from New York) whitefish salad also great- I have the food to go--always crowded, always bustling-- parking lot is a pain in the neck on sunday mornings.

  • Shannon P.

Went here for take-out sandwiches. The place is small but also inviting most of what I saw behind the deli looked really yummy. However, it took forever for someone to take my order and the waitresses seemed like you were bothering them. I ordered a Turkey on white and a Reuben. I wanted to modify my order but after waiting and finally scrambling to find someone that could help the sandwiches were brought out. They also got my side orders wrong. I didn't get the potato salad I asked for they gave me one of those cups of coleslaw-ICKY. The meat on the sandwiches was piled high and very good. I might go there again- but they seemed a little overpriced ($25 for just the 2 items) Bread came out of a bag soo that makes no sense to me.

  • Mitch A.

Went here with my Grandmother when I was in town for a wedding. We used to go to "the cove" which I thought was a little better. The coffee here wasn't that good. I had some nice slices of belly lox to go along with my bagel as well as some whitefish. Both the lox and whitefish were very tasty. The OJ tasted like it was from frozen concentrate and I couldn't even drink it. The service is good, as my grandmother goes there all the time and the waitress that is there used to know her from "the cove" so she takes care of us. If you want some good lox and a bagel, I'd recommend it. The parking could be difficult as the small lot fills up quickly.

  • Mike L.

Bagels here are the best in South Florida, possibly the world! Other dishes are excellent too, their deli sandwiches are especially great, get the meats and fish served on a bagel, you can't go wrong. Very few worthy New Yorkesque delis in South Florida that have even a hint of authenticity, most are run by big corporations-- Sage has always been a family run store and you can't help but love that.

    (5)
  • Alison M.

Sage gets 3 stars because it's a mixed bag. If I was just reviewing the bagels to go then 5 stars because they are perfect mix of chewy and crispy. Exactly what you would expect from a NY bagel. However, I'm rating the entire restaurant and my experience there was awful. Definitely deserving 2 stars. Here's the deal. The restaurant is absolutely packed, I would be surprised if it meets fire-code and it is definitely not handicap friendly. There are tables and chairs everywhere and way too close to each other. I had to move my chair around to different sides of the table twice, because I was sick of servers and busboys bumping into and leaning over me while they tried to wait on other tables. I take personal space very seriously and this situation stressed me out. Needless to say it was not an enjoyable dining experience. Service was slow, we waited about 20 minutes before someone came over to take our order and that was after asking another server to find our waitress. Food was very meh. I got corn beef hash. The corn beef was crispy, but too salty, the potatoes were awful and I couldn't get poached eggs because that side of the kitchen had closed 5 minutes prior to our ordering. Yeah. The bagel was the one redeeming part. I'd come back for bagels to go, but never to eat in the restaurant.

    (3)
  • Ali S.

Easily the best bagel in the Miami area. A little strange the toppings are all on the bottom only, but overall well made, almost as good as some of the famous NY bagel shops, but not quite.

    (5)
  • Shelley M.

Without a doubt the best bagel I've ever had. You don't have to toast a Sage bagel or even put cream cheese on them. They are just that good. I usually get a bialy with chive cream cheese. Or a plain everything bagel. The lox & the chicken salad are amazing as well. The lines get pretty long on the weekends so beware! And don't let the frail looking old people fool you, they can get aggressive & they will cut you in line if you're not paying attention. Regardless, if you love bagels or just fresh baked bread products, Sage lives up to all the hype.

  • Randi M.

Amazing bagels, great breakfasts, great deli food. Its Kosher so no bacon or pork, but you can get Turkey bacon. I love that they also serve grits. This was a favorite breakfast place when I was with my ex, she loved the regular breakfast with french fries instead of home fries. The one complaint I have is that their matza ball soup is kinda weird. They dont use thin egg noodles, rather they use spagetti noodles which to me as a Jewish Diva is just really wrong. Go early on the weekends though, they get pretty busy and have long lines.

    (4)
  • Jace L.

Mediocre food. Horrendous service. Wasn't even busy. Maybe 5 total tables to the 4 servers. Took 10 minutes to get drinks. Another 30 to order and 30 to get our food. Came with the wrong sides and half of it was cold upon arriving. Half of the time the server spent talking to the same table trying to get a job. Maybe she should have focused on the one she has/ had...

Been coming here since before I could say "bagel" and nothing has changed. All the standards are still on the menu and it's hard to go wrong. I had latkes and a fruit salad, M had potato blintzes. We both agreed that this is the best deli in the area. A few days later, we decided to grab bagels for breakfast on our way out of town. Some combination of Sunday morning + Christmas meant there was a line wrapped all the way around the store and a lot of really grumpy, shouting, sweating, cursing employees, but the line moved quickly and the bagels were as good as always. Totally worth the 15 minute wait (AND we got fresh bagels just out of the oven! Yummm!) They could probably smile a little more and clean the place once in a while, but then again if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Great surprise to receive a platter of fresh veggies with a bagel and scoop of cream cheese. YUM! Look forward to eating here often. I have my eye on the bowl of Matzo Ball Soup. Can't wait to try that next.

I consider myself a corned beef gourmand, and Sage does it right. Great quality meat on the deli sandwiches, potato pancakes were crisp and delicous. Hands down best deli I've been to in Florida.

    (5)
  • Dave G.

Sage could be the best bagel in south Florida. In fact it's one of the best I've ever had, including New York. It's soft, but chewy, but also a little bit done on the outside. A classic NY bagel in every sense of the word. If you like those spongy bready Einstein things with purple berries and pink dough, then this might not be the bagel for you. They have a selection of about 12 bagels. Nothing too exotic and a heck of a pumpernickel bagel. Get one of those with some whitefish salad on it and you're in heaven. My only complaint is with the little onion pieces, most of the time they are totally burnt. It kind of overpowers the bagel with a slightly burnt flavor. I believe there is a school of thought that that's how those onion pieces should be. I've had them that way at many a NY bagel place as well. But the plain, sesame, poppy, rye, pumpernickel are perfection. They don't ever make too many in one batch, so they are making more throughout the day as needed. This is important because there are no preservatives in these bagels and they go stale real fast. Forget eating one the next day. However don't let that stop you from getting a dozen and freezing some. They freeze real well. OK on to the smoked fish. The nova smoked salmon is some of the finest you can get anywhere. Freshly hand sliced to order from a large slab, they know how to carve it razor thin. I don't know where they get it from, but it doesn't get better than this. They also have a slab of the saltier lox version. You used to get a choice of Nova or Lox when you went to a deli. Now most deli's figure it's too expensive to carry both. They just pick one in the middle, and call it Nova Lox. So hat's of to Sage for not selling out. They also have whole whitefish, sable, herring, smoked cooked salmon. In fact they make a smoked salmon salad out of it that's pretty impressive. It's like whitefish salad, but with the salmon. You don't see that offered in too many places. It can be a little on the salty side. Their cream cheese is top notch, as is their chicken salad, and chopped liver. Pretty much everything in their display case, I've tried at one time or another and been happy with. OK so that's the take out side, but they also have a sit down restaurant. It's not the Rascal House here in terms of menu, but it's still pretty good. The Corned Beef and Pastrami is Hebrew National. It's good quality and it's steamed properly. Sandwiches are stacked pretty high about 3 inches on a good home made rye bread. They bake all their breads here, so they are always fresh. They make a nice grilled Reuben with swiss cheese on both sides of the bread to seal in the corned beef and sauerkraut. The potato knish is outstanding with lots of flavor. The kasha knish is one of most interesting I've had. Somehow they mash the kasha just like a potato, so it loses the grainy texture. They also do a spinach knish and a mushroom knish. Right in the heart of Condo Comandoville of Hallandale, they have survived since 1973. Sage is still being run by the same family that first started the place. Delis work best this way. Recipes are passed down from generation to generation, and their is pride in their food. Show me a corporate owned deli, and I'll show you a family owned deli that will kick it's touchas every time.

I just had the most amazing Pastrami Reuben sandwich (called the Rachel) in South Florida! Their cheese blintzes were to die for! Our waitress Cindy recommend my meal and her service was great. I almost did not come because two of reviews said they were not handicap assessable but they very much are. I love Jewish food.. Sage is the place to go.
